Socialist Party MP Erion Malaj commented on today's vote in the Assembly on the resolution on integration that received the votes of the majority and the opposition.
He emphasized that the purpose of the work of the European Integration Committee was to merge the two political resolutions into one, as was done.
" Politically, it is an achievement to be appreciated. In the meetings of the European Integration Committee, a working group was established that would consider drafting a joint draft resolution, as there have been 2 draft resolutions, one from the SP and one from the DP.
"I can't say it wasn't difficult, because there were political resolutions from both sides. We worked for hours. I assure you that the draft resolution that was drafted there has not changed a single point, with the exception of a paragraph added in today's meeting by Mr. Dule ," Malaj said on the Now show on Euronews Albania.
The draft resolution drafted by the deputies of the Foreign Policy Committee aims to establish Albania's political priorities and commitments on the path towards the European Union.
The document qualifies EU membership as a "national strategic objective" and calls for a joint institutional and political commitment to accelerate negotiations and implement the reforms requested by Brussels.
In the draft resolution, the Assembly commits to strengthening its role in the integration process, by increasing parliamentary control over the government, independent institutions and state agencies, as well as by guaranteeing stronger transparency and accountability in the negotiation process.
