A life of luxury with a state salary/ The files are cleared, who is the richest

Ironically, even artificial intelligence brings out as the richest politicians in Albania the leaders of the main parties in the country, starting with Sali Berisha, Ilir Meta, Lulzim Basha and Edi Rama...

Politics and money are two inseparable elements that have accompanied Albanian democracy. Money has been and is the main word of political theses that are used in Albania, sometimes to show how much money has been invested in the state, and sometimes to point the finger at one another accompanied by the accusation that they have stolen it.

This picture began to be colored with the fall of communism, where the deputies of the first years found themselves in the most privileged class of extremely poor Albania. Spending years under the guise of deputy, minister or politician began to be enjoyed, even more so when their life was clearly different from the rest of society.

As the years passed one by one, even in the last months of 2024, the situation seems not to have changed much for politicians, at least in relation to wealth.

Accusations of embezzlement These words have never been spared by Albanian politicians, and the chances are that they will be heard even more, even louder as the electoral campaign approaches, where so many accusations between them seem to have supplied the artificial intelligence with data, through to which he has created ready answers, even more so when faced with the question of who are the richest Albanian politicians.

Ironically, even the artificial intelligence brings out as the richest politicians in Albania the leaders of the main parties in the country, starting with Sali Berisha, Ilir Meta, Lulzim Basha and Edi Rama, names that for almost 20 years have established a monopoly in providing of political alternatives in the country. But how much is their wealth?

The property declarations of Sali Berisha, Ilir Meta, Lulzim Basha and Edi Rama are placed in the tab of this show. Where to return an answer to the question of Berisha's wealth, it is enough to open the declarations of his wealth over the years, from which it turns out that the chairman of the Democratic Party owns only one apartment in Tirana and 100 thousand dollars in savings.

Sali Berisha's house became known in the first days of January this year after he was placed under the security measure of house arrest. This is not only because of the supporters who gather under his house every evening for eight months now, but also because of the political visits he has received at home.

His apartment has already been turned into the office of the Chairman of the Democratic Party, and as such he had to wait for some friends from abroad, who asked to meet him personally, and in the published images, parts of the house also appeared.

In addition to real estate in one of the most expensive areas of Tirana, his bank account has continued for years to be worth 100,000 euros, money which the chief democrat has set aside for his pension, which recently seems to life even more distant after the full engagement at the head of the Democratic Party.

Ilir Meta and Monika Kryemadhi have been the most talked about couple in Albanian politics. Even now, after Ilir Meta's decision to divorce Kryemadhi, their way of life continues to be in the center of attention, even more so when their wealth is under investigation by the Special Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office.

Over the years, they have been accused by political opponents for their way of life, even for this a lawsuit was filed with the Special Prosecutor's Office, which led to the initiation of the property investigation. But now with the decision to divorce, which continues to be in process at the Tirana Judicial District Court, their assets must be calculated separately.

Thus, from this divorce, at least financially, Ilir Meta has been lost, as all their assets have been registered in the name of Monika Kryemadhi, while Ilir Meta seems to have remained "homeless" in the legal sense of the word. Recently, he has even been seen as a resident of the Dry Lake area in Tirana and no longer Kodre e Diellit where he once lived together with Monika Kryemadhi.

Ilir Meta's Wealth Declaration and his public attitudes seem to match each other, Ilir Meta in his wealth declaration has as income the money from the state positions he has held, including that of the President of the Republic for 7 he gave 20 thousand euros in the last months of his duties. From this money received from the salary as president, Meta has saved about 1800 euros and this is where the declaration of wealth for the chairman of the Freedom Party ends.

The generosity of Ilir Meta seems to be related to the low level of money in his account, although for months now he has been publishing videos on social networks while walking in the mountains and forests of Albania.

Something completely different seems to be in relation to Monika Kryemadhi. Her wealth is significantly higher compared to her ex-husband, where their main source is not the salary as an MP, but family inheritance. Thus, Monika Kryemadhi has about 14 apartments in her name, including the apartment in Gjirin e Lalëzi, several bank accounts worth several thousand euros. Regarding the way this money was created, Monika Kryemadhi was called several times to SPAK, including to provide clarifications on possible plastic surgeries.

All these investigations launched by the special prosecutor's office have been rejected by both Meta and Kryemadhi, even for the chairman of the Freedom Party, these are limited.

What distinguishes Basha from Berisha and Meta is that he is not under investigation by SPAK, but the public perception of him puts him in the same category as Meta and Berisha, the wealthy politicians. And precisely wealth is what caught Lulzim Basha's eye when he entered Albanian politics. Even in the first statement of assets deposited in ILDKPKI, Basha turns out to be a 29-year-old millionaire with significant amounts of cash, several houses both in the Netherlands and in Tirana and Durrës which were owned 100% by him, bank accounts that captured values over 100 thousand euros and others.

The passage of years in the opposition has not translated into a decrease in income for Luzlim Basha. Although in the last statement of wealth there is no longer a high number of real estates, she declares that she has generated income up to the value of 600 thousand euros from the sale of an apartment in Tirana, or 100 thousand euros from inheritance. Thus, oppositionism has been difficult for him only in political confrontations with opponents on the ground, since in personal aspect, opposition or government, the income has only increased.

If until now the analysis was focused on the three main individuals of the opposition in the last 12 years, of course the most publicly attacked person as a beneficiary of public money is Prime Minister Edi Rama. The head of the Albanian government in the declaration of real estate does not turn out to be at the level of his political rivals as far as the money set aside is concerned. Even according to the wealth declaration, Edi Rama has a negative bank account of around 1100 euros, while as a source of income he has the salary as prime minister in the amount of around 20 thousand euros per year.

In addition to the salary of the government's number one, another source of income for him is the artistic activity where in the statement of assets made available by ILDKPKI, it is proven that about 2200 euros have been added from this passion of the prime minister.

This filing of their wealth and the public perception of them are only an indication of how politics in the eyes of public opinion has been seen for a long time, and even continues to be seen as such, as a lane to get rich faster. fast. ( A2 Television )
