The capture and arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro by US forces has brought echoes and waves of reactions in Albania as well. Many commentators and public figures have seen it as a global precedent for the overthrow of corrupt and autocratic regimes. One of the most outspoken voices on the Albanian political scene, Myslim Murrizi, has been among the first to comment on the event, comparing it to the current situation in the country.
The former MP directly accuses the Albanian political class of theft, fraud, and the capture of institutions with the aim of enriching themselves and maintaining power at all costs.
" You can steal, deceive, and subjugate a poor people for a certain period of time by buying property, concessions, and disgusting servility to the international factor with money."
But the day will soon come when everyone will realize that you are a common thief and a dirty bottom, that you behave differently with those you think are beneath you, and that you seek to appear differently in front of those who don't give a damn about you and don't even consider you as a spiritual person.
The time of every powerful tyrant and politician is ultimately very short, even though the suffering they can cause to helpless citizens can be great.
"The end of every stinker is the same, regardless of the countries and states they rule, the nationality and the language they speak; because their faces are similar in their disgust, stretched out to look like they are laughing ," writes Murrizi.
