Toni Gogu, Minister of Justice, and Albana Vokshi, DP MP, were involved in a debate in the Parliament hall regarding Albania's EU integration process.
It was the Democratic MP who accused Minister Gogu of public deception regarding IBAR. Vokshi stressed that Gogu had publicly deceived when he stated that IBAR for Albania had been approved by the EU, while to this day, there is no decision on approval.
"Two days ago, before the meeting had even been adjourned, Minister Toni Gogu came out to the conference and announced that IBAR had been approved and had been passed to the Council of Ambassadors. How can, with what impudence, or incompetence, a minister give news that is not true. To deceive the public. At least three member states out of 27 have had problems with the first chapter group. Minister Gogu could have waited until Friday. So Minister Gogu, who is spreading false news, should come out and apologize," she said.
In his reaction, Gogu said that the opposition had political envy.
"I'm sorry that you have contributed to 8 thousand accusations of stagnation of progress. How is it possible that your political envy towards the progress of an entire society, that you are the only social formation that is behind. You are 36 years behind. You are the only formation that does not reflect the progress towards the EU, while Albania is moving forward. Raise the accusations, but I have heard them before. I have heard them when you say; the prime minister cannot go to America, Albania cannot continue to move forward", he said.
