The plenary session in the Assembly was accompanied by strong retorts between the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, and the Speaker of the Assembly, Elisa Spiropali.
During his speech, Berisha used harsh tones towards Spiropali, describing her as the "most insignificant victim" of Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku.
He implied that Spiropali had ambitions to become deputy prime minister and accused her of her political stances in relation to the majority. "You came like a bride in white because you wanted to take her place, why was Lubia eating grass?" , Berisha ironically said.
"Eliza, you are Lubia's most insignificant and most deserving victim at a time when Albanians' eyes were directed towards her as if she were a black raven, you came to us as a bride here dressed in white with accessories, why do you think Lubia ate grass? You don't have it from Berisha, you have it from yourself, because you were happy that you would become deputy prime minister, because you knew that this other clone was. For Berisha, Rama exalted you just like Lubia's clone, but you took it up. You told them I would be your Lubia and you got what you deserved ," he said.
Earlier, Spiropali reacted to Berisha's statements, ironizing the fact that he had predicted political developments.
"The only thing I regret is that Sali Berisha announced the departure and not anyone else. That's why I'm surprised that the word came up and nothing else," Spiropali said.
The clash between them brought tensions to the Assembly hall, in another fierce debate between the opposition and the majority.
