This Thursday's parliamentary session began with a minute of silence in honor of Adem Jashari and his family in Prekaz.
The request for this homage was submitted by the parliamentary group of the Socialist Party. On March 5, 1998, Serbian forces launched an attack on the Jashari family in Prekaz, an event that marks a key moment in the history of Kosovo.
During the opening of the session, a minute of silence was held for former MP Tomor Dosti, who passed away the day before.
The request for his honor was submitted by the Democratic Party. The deputies present in the hall respected both moments of silence at the beginning of parliamentary proceedings.
Who was Tomor Dosti?
Tomor Dosti was also the vice-president of the Democratic Party in its early years. He was elected as a member of parliament in two legislatures, 1991-1996, and in 1998 he retired from active politics.
The former legislator was known for his suffering during the dictatorship. He was sentenced in 1953 to 25 years in prison. He served his sentence in Burrel among the personalities of Albania. After prison, he went through the ordeal of exile with his family.
He was born in Gjirokastra, in 1930. The son of former minister Hasan Dosti. After the escape of his father and brother, he and his brothers and sisters, after their mother was shot by the Germans on the day of their departure from Tirana, were persecuted. He was arrested in 1953 and sentenced to 20 years in prison "for attempted escape".
In 1991, he joined the Democratic Party, putting his political and family credibility in southern Albania at its disposal, creating the democratic political movement with Pjetër Arbnori, Leka Tota, Uran Butka, Ajet Rusi and his brother Leka.
