MP and leader of the Mundësia Party, Agron Shehaj, left the plenary session after the Ethics Secretariat decided to exclude him for 20 days from the proceedings of the Assembly.
The disciplinary measure is related to the tensions created during Monday's session, when Shehaj blocked the podium and prevented the normal continuation of parliamentary proceedings.
After leaving the hall, the MP spoke to the media and said that his intervention in the session was related to the situation of the residents of Rrjoll, who have been protesting for a long time after their properties were being robbed by the construction of a tourist resort in the area.
"On Monday, I did what every MP should do, bring the voice of the citizens to the Albanian Parliament. Meanwhile, in Rrjol, citizens are protesting that their property, 150 hectares, has been seized by the former director of Hipoteka. The police are acting like a sehir, and the private police, hooded thugs with rubber batons, are beating the protestors who are defending their property.
"I spoke about this issue, I did not curse, push or offend anyone. I also showed them the footage that they apparently had not seen, there are elderly people who have been raped to the point of breaking their legs. A 19-year-old was punched. Parliament has turned to protect the corrupt. We will protest for property today, at 6 o'clock," said Shehaj.
