The first meeting of the National Council of this party has begun at the DP headquarters, whose members were elected by the National Assembly held a few weeks ago.
The National Council meeting is expected to elect the head of this forum, which has been led by Edi Paloka for several years, but who will not be re-running for this position.
The National Council meeting has 3 items on the agenda:
1-Election of the Chairperson of the National Council
2-Election of the DP Presidency
3-Other.
Proposals for new names that will be part of the DP's leadership structure will be proposed by the democratic leader, while members of the National Council have the right to propose other candidacies, if there are any.
Sali Berisha considered the composition of the National Council as the most powerful that the DP has chosen in its entire history.
"Our mission is the return of free voting and the rotation of power," said Berisha, adding that this meeting takes place at one of the most special times in the entire history of political pluralism.
He focused on the civic protests, which he considered an awakening of Generation Z. "The liberation movement has exploded in Albania. The DP, which developed an epic movement, has strongly supported this movement, which has extraordinary importance," Berisha said.
He said that a similar movement to the one of recent days took place at a time when Edi Rama sought to bring chemical weapons to Albania. "At that time, the battle was waged by students and high school students, who poured into the streets and forced the despot to cancel his decision," Berisha said.
