Democratic Party MP, Saimir Korreshi, spoke about the DP's boycott of the Territorial and Electoral Reform.
Korreshi stated that the DP should not repeat the mistake of 2014, when it boycotted the territorial reform and left all the ground to the Socialist Party.
He added that this boycott has cost the opposition politically and that today the DP must be part of the process to correct a reform that, according to the MP, has removed services from the citizen and has served electoral interests more than real needs.
"We have never been for a boycott, but situations have arisen for which the SP has never responded to the DP, such as the case of the Immunity and Mandates Council, which even today does not have a date for its meeting. We cannot leave such an urgent issue and act as if nothing has happened," Korreshi told "Report TV".
Korreshi admitted that not taking part in the territorial reform was a mistake, while adding that they should not repeat the foolish thing they did before. According to Korreshi, the priority of the reform should be service to the citizen.
"Is it wrong not to participate in the territorial reform? In my opinion, yes, because the way this reform was conceived and carried out by the Socialist Party brought them great electoral benefits and that's all. If we had to bargain, we would not have done that stupid thing. It was the stupidity of that time and not a bargain. Only a fool could do that. Lulzim Basha boycotted at that time and the Democrats did a stupid thing, to be honest ," he said.
Meanwhile, the MP denied rumors of internal clashes within the DP regarding participation in the territorial reform, saying that there were no debates, only opinions were expressed.
"Berisha only listened. There was no opinion, there was no debate. Everyone expressed their own opinion," declared Korreshi.
