Rexhep Uka, one of the historical founders of the Democratic Party, delivered a speech during the presentation of the candidates for deputies of the Euro-Atlantic Coalition, where he was present alongside the political leader of the coalition, Lulzim Basha.
Professor Rexhep Uka said that he was born 72 years ago, while confessing that it was the second time that he could not say no to politics.
"The first was in 2005, after '96. The second is today. I came with a clear conscience and I am filled with hope ," he said.
In his speech, Uka reflected deeply on the Democratic Party's journey and mistakes.
"Beware of recycling! The Albanian people have become afraid of that parliament. Parliament is our face. It is in our hands to change it and bring our true face there," he emphasized, calling on citizens to vote for people with bright minds, experience and dedication.
Professor Uka expresses support for SPAK and emphasizes that their hope lies in the institution of justice.

I have long since withdrawn from politics, but twice I have found myself in a difficult situation and could not refuse an invitation. The first was after 1996, in 2005 when I received the invitation from Puka, - I am originally from Puka, - and my father told me "you have no choice, you will go!"; and today, I came today. I made a small exception, because I was also part of the program on June 1.
I see that I know all of these people today and I was filled with extraordinary confidence that I am convinced that there will be no mind, heart and hand to vote against these men. With these people, I had long conversations. With Shemsi, in 92 in Tropoja, we discussed like today. In 2017, Lul Basha invited me to the tent, - I have been a close friend of his since 2005, - and to be honest, I did not go. I told him, - I will come only on one condition, if we go out together, on television and you will speak and say: Those who are no longer with us, in reality are not with anyone; Those who are no longer with us, have more rights than us and know the truth, this is very bitter.
I cannot help but mention some bitter facts about the tragedy that happened to the DP - you can find it on Youtube. The Democratic Party was founded on its feet and never sat down to analyze, which is why what happened happened.
It happened! But hope dies last.
We understood very well that democracy is not a destination, but a station. Democracy is very difficult, at least to do the rotation, but beware of recycling! Beware of recycling because the Albanian people have become afraid of that parliament. Fear!
It is our duty, as citizens, to choose the right mix this time and to listen to the enlightened minds there, people with experience, dedicated people, people with patriotic attitudes because we are living in a very turbulent period. I am convinced that even a simpleton understands that the world is facing some great challenges.
Today, we are in Kamëz. Last night I read my speech, at the first democratic rally that was held, here behind my back. In front of me was an acquaintance of ours, who served 8 years in prison, just because he called her a "cheese-lime". And I had him in front of me, and he was pulling his hair.
Kamza is my birthplace, I was born here 72 years ago. I have a 3-4 year memory, and I remember, from the first day the changes are extraordinary. Whoever denies the changes, denies himself.
But what we want, development, our dreams, our early program, we are still very far away.
Who is the indicator?
Exile. Exile never separated Albanians.
This is a great disaster. Why? They give many reasons. All kinds of specialists, all kinds of experts.
NO! The bird that feels it, that deserves to live better, understands the bad noise and runs away.
It's not the economy, neither one nor the other, but a person must feel like a citizen, to be truly free.
We have not yet secured this because we did not have the separation of powers.
There is a hope, which is called SPAK! It is a great hope. But this came after we could not do it. We have a good example, to take these guys to parliament. I have told Lul Basha and I will tell him publicly. In 2007 I had thought of him as prime minister. It is a Western piece that the communist regime did not eat.
It is up to us not to complain, because ultimately, parliament is our face and we need to change it and show our true face there.
