The prime minister's new majority erases the boundaries between the SP and the DP exponents, transforming key positions into a tool for maintaining power...
Edi Rama is expected to appoint half of the new government with so-called technocrats from the opposition. Voices in the majority say that from the post of deputy prime minister with delegation for negotiations with the EU, and up to several key positions in the cabinet, including the interior minister, will be given to "oppositionists".
According to the model followed in the municipality of Vlora or even in Tirana, where exponents who have served in the Democratic Party have been given high positions.
In Vlora, the cadastral directorate, while in Tirana, the number two position in the municipality was given to two characters who were also candidates for MPs in the elections four years ago.
Meanwhile, in Shkodra it is clear that Benet Beci's victory came as an undeclared alliance of some of the DP interest groups in the city but also in the surrounding areas.
This political substratum has already begun to take shape in Edi Rama's majority, which in his fourth term will be the core of the ongoing political alliance. An alliance that primarily serves the Prime Minister's prolonged power, but also close figures who have become attached to the Socialist Party.
On the other hand, another beneficiary of these movements is Sali Berisha, who is being removed by a group of political ambitious people, to whom he cannot give power and positions. This movement does not seem to have been conceived without a prior agreement with Berisha's group. Because neither he, that is, Berisha, nor the people around him have said a single word about these approaches of Edi Rama.
Even more attacked by Berisha's faction were people from his group, like Belind Këlliçi and others, than those who left.
A signal that clearly shows that there is a deal between Berisha and Rama, as there was before the elections for the closing of the lists, the amnesty of officials arrested by SPAK, or even the permits for the towers.
The flight to power of the DP people, who even in public writings justify this as inclusiveness, is not a dialectical political action. Since they have not announced a post-election alliance with a program or a specific political goal.
This departure is simply an abandonment of the opposition for purely pragmatic and selfish purposes. In basic concept, this suffocates the opposition as a political being and institution.
However, on the other hand, it creates an important space in the political arena for the creation of a new force. Which will no longer have an opponent only in Edi Rama, but in the entire current political system of the old elite.
A space that neither Lapaj, nor Shabani, nor Shehaj, nor Arlind Qori could occupy, after they played in the elections for small positions. An opposition does not play for positions, but for causes. And it is precisely from the defense of causes that leadership emerges, not from raising one's voice on TikTok./ Pamphlet
