"When Albanians curse you, you disappear", Rama mocks former minister

Prime Minister Edi Rama, at the Chatham House panel on the topic "Western Balkans and the European Union", has ironized the former Home Secretary of the United Kingdom, Suella Bravermann, who, according to him, dealt unfairly with Albanians who were going to Britain through the English Channel.

According to Rama, when Albanians curse you, you disappear.

"I remember among the craziest, funniest things, what was called the exit referendum. And I remember that back then there was a poster with a scary bird coming from Albania to suck the blood of Britain. The promise was 'Leave Europe and they won't come again'. But what happened? They left Europe and Albania became an even bigger topic," Rama said.

"The problem is not immigration, but where to find a scapegoat for leaving the EU. When someone named Suella, when he picked on Albanians... Where is she? Remember, don't mess with Albanians, because if Albanians curse you, you disappear," Rama added.

He did not hesitate to criticize the European Union's approach to the region, saying that often what was said by the EU did not match reality.

" You can meet all the technical aspects at all stages and you can face political support, that's clear. That's what at a certain point in time, made the EU appear like a big hypocrite to us, because what they were saying didn't match the facts."

"Europe is a patient with 27 doctors, there were 28, but one of them was shunned and had to take another course of treatment. The other 27 agreed later and a few of these doctors for three consecutive times did not let us participate ," he said.
