The Assembly postponed the meeting of the Mandates Council

The meeting of the Conference of Speakers on Thursday afternoon was accompanied by debates between representatives of the opposition and the majority regarding the postponement of the meeting of the Mandates Council regarding SPAK's request for Belinda Balluku.

The leader of the DP group, Gazment Bardhi, addressed the Speaker of Parliament Niko Peleshi, accusing him of violating the rules of procedure.

"Mr. Peleshi, you are in flagrant violation of the Rules of Procedure. We have requested a meeting of the Immunities Council five times, but you have refused. You decided to convene it on the 28th, but two hours before the meeting, with an order containing false information, you canceled the meeting.

"So as you wrote, even though I am convinced that you do not know what you wrote, it is up to the Council to convene in two months. It is enough to read the law on the functioning of the Constitutional Court. So, you say that you will convene the Council after the decision of the Constitutional Court, while the Court has more than two months to express its opinion," said Bardhi.

In response to the opposition MPs, the Speaker of the Assembly Niko Peleshi said that it is in accordance with the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly.

"The postponement of the meeting is in accordance with the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly. In the Council of Mandates, decisions are not made simply by majority, but every proposal of the members is valid. At the proposal of the members of parliament Taulant Balla and Bledi Çomo who requested to wait for the decision of the Constitutional Court, I postponed the meeting."
