The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, declared from the opposition table on Territorial Reform that the government led by Edi Rama aims to depopulate the country and appropriate public assets.
He accused the prime minister of following the same line, both when he was leading the Municipality of Tirana and now at the head of the government, aiming to plunder funds and neglecting the northern areas of the country in particular due to the political beliefs of the residents.
Berisha also brought a concrete example, claiming that the benefits of an individual connected to the majority are higher than investments in entire areas of the north.
He also focused on the organization of the cadastre system, describing Albania as a unique case with a single office throughout the territory, which, according to him, is related to the control and management of public assets.
"The unique country in the world with a single Cadastral office in the entire country. You know it because the robbery and plundering of the public assets of the people is an absolute priority of this regime. That is why I stopped in this introduction not to do politics but to emphasize how the citizens were abandoned by this reform. What was one of the greatest successes that the DP government achieved in the development of rural Albania in which over 3 billion euros were invested with the Treasury? It was the presence of local governments everywhere. The principle was: You do the projects, the Government the funds! This is a very fundamental issue, money is not the main thing, not absolutely, the most important thing for a government are the projects. And a government cannot afford them, in no country in the world, there is no government in the world that can afford projects, but otherwise it does not develop", said the head of the blue headquarters.
He then compared the level of investment in the past with the current situation, claiming that rural areas have been neglected and projects have been halted.
"Agim Xhafa paved 49 km of roads in the municipality during one mandate, while Rama in Tirana paved 12 km of roads, because Xhafa did not steal money, while Rama intended to steal money. Go to the municipalities, there are no more investments. The projects that were just started have been completed, and the projects and investments in rural Albania do not exist. There was no Rural Tirana for Erjon Veliaj, except for the Pigeon Cave, which is a tourist site there," said Berisha.
The leader of the DP continued with accusations about the way investments are distributed, emphasizing that according to him, there is a marked inequality between different areas of the country.
"A fatal blow was dealt to the country's development process, in addition, this one, who is the best prime minister of Serbia after Pashić, treated the North worse than any other conqueror in history. Yes, the disproportion of investments from Fushë-Kruja to Vermosh, taken together, total investments are equal to those that the sister of the Pec earthquake in Tepelena has gained," continued the leading democrat.
Finally, he emphasized that in his opinion the government has maintained an exclusionary stance towards areas that do not support it politically, while also presenting the DP's stance on territorial reform, linking it to European standards and the regional model.
"Imagine with what hatred he treated the population that did not vote for him. He did not hide it, the campaign was open, if you did not vote for me, you will not have investments, he said. Hatred, abandonment by the government after this pseudo-reform that he has carried out these years. Where do we stand? We must give an excellent answer to two fundamental issues: The interests and services of Albanian citizens. Secondly, the adaptation to all EU criteria. Because as is known, the United Europe is also the Europe of the Regions, it is precisely the project that the EU aims to have development in all regions of the European space", Berisha said.
