The Democratic Party will support the decision of the Special Prosecutor's Office (SPAK) for Salin Berisha, where his arrest is requested.
In an interview with ABC News, the spokesperson of this political force, Mirela Karabina, stated that the position is clear; when justice speaks, politics must be silent.
According to Karabina, the blocking of parliamentary sessions in the Assembly by members of Berisha's group is done for narrow interests.
“The Democratic Party, throughout this period, even since SPAK has started the action to bring high-ranking politicians to justice, supports without any reservation the decisions of SPAK, towards anyone. The position is clear, we cannot have double positions. When justice speaks, politics must be silent. We are going through a moment when, after so many years, justice is separated from politics. We are dealing with a structure that was set up with the help of the USA. If there was a plenary session, of course the Democratic Party would have been part of it, but for several weeks the parliament has turned into a stage, which is sad. Some groups of MPs have blocked parliamentary sessions for narrow interests. A budget was passed, an extremely high figure, 7 billion euros, and the citizens did not listen to accountability. This minimization of the parliamentary sessions was a gift given to the prime minister.
It is not a political act to burn the parliament chairs, they undermined the budget session for narrow interests. Blocking sessions and allowing the government to pass the budget without accountability is undermining and does not serve the citizens. The Democratic Party demands that in the next elections we have a different system, open lists, vetting of politicians, the vote of the people. The Democratic Party set up the incinerators' commission and today in SPAK the political battle of the Democratic Party regarding the galloping corruption of the incinerators is confirmed. The Constitutional Court has suspended the Rama-Meloni agreement. What matters is the actions that take place. Both this opposition group and the majority are facing SPAK. We support without any hesitation", she emphasized.
