Prime Minister Edi Rama has shared with his followers on social media a video from The Hague, where a protest in support of the former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army will take place today, September 14.
"Freedom has a name! I am there with my heart and mind today, Commander! Freedom for the liberators!" Rama wrote in a post.
The protest will begin at 2:00 PM to demand justice and the release of the liberators, while the Prime Minister expressed his full support for the former soldiers of the Kosovo Liberation Army, emphasizing the importance of their release and respect for their historical contribution.
The organizer of the protest is the diaspora, supported by organizations emerging from the war.
They say that former KLA leaders, Hashim Thaçi and others, have been unjustly held in The Hague for 5 years and that the KLA's war was just, clean and liberating.
This protest has also been supported by many political parties and influential individuals, both in Kosovo, Albania, and in the diaspora.
The Dutch authorities have not given permission for the protest to be held near the Court building, but it will take place in a square not far away. On Monday, September 15, the process of calling witnesses for the defense begins, where some of the highest wartime authorities are expected. The first witness is expected to be James Rubin from the United States.
