The leader of the Republican Party, Fatmir Mediu, said that he fought with Lulzim Basha to prevent the mandates from being burned.
Mediu said that electoral reform should not be done behind the scenes of the Socialist Party.
" I was probably one of the only ones who fought with Mr. Lulzim Basha to not waste his mandate. I also said about the electoral reform that it cannot be done behind the scenes of the SP. We know very well what happens. This has proven to be true. The opposition needs transparency. We have killed the hope of some people in the PR or the Agrarian Party. I am such a democrat that I also appreciate Mr. Berisha. I have been in the same trench with him, " said Mediu.
Mediu also recalled his and Mr. Duka's idea of creating a Confederation with opposition parties.
" Together with Mr. Duka, we came up with the idea of creating a Confederation. The idea was that if you want to fall in line with the authorities, you'll have a hard time. At that time, we appealed to Mr. Basha and Mr. Lapaj. I said, let's create a confederation so that we don't create who the leader is, but the idea, " he said.
