The leader of the Republican Party, Fatmir Mediu, stated that today he had a conversation with Mr. Berisha that they should have a group discussion on the issue of the Electoral Reform Commission.
Invited to News24, Mediu said that the opposition must be unified on this issue, while emphasizing that the model he supports is the return of coalitions.
"These dynamics have led us to where they have led us. I knew this. We should have been aware. The issue here is not how many numbers the DP leads, but how much logic the opposition gives up at this table. I participate in active opposition discussions about free and fair elections.
In this regard, no one can tell me whether you are with the DP or not. The opposition must take this issue to the formal level. We agreed with Mr. Berisha, I spoke with him today, that we will have a group meeting on Electoral Reform.
"The opposition must be unified with its own stance. What we must fight for is to return to the idea of coalitions," he said.
Mediu also recalled his and Mr. Duka's idea of creating a Confederation with opposition parties.
"Together with Mr. Duka, we came up with the idea of creating a Confederation. The idea was that if you want to fall in line with the authorities, you'll have a hard time. At that time, we appealed to Mr. Basha and Mr. Lapaj. I said, let's create a confederation so that we don't create who the leader is, but the idea," he said.
