The Prime Minister of Italy, Georgia Meloni, will make a flash visit to our country this Wednesday.
The head of the Italian government will arrive in Shengjin around 11:20 today.
The only stop in this several-hour visit of hers to our country, from where she will inspect the construction of the reception center for immigrants in Shengjin, as well as look at the process of building accommodation facilities in Gjadër.
Prime Minister Meloni will be accompanied by a large number of Italian journalists.
Meloni and Prime Minister Edi Rama are expected from Shengjin to give a press conference at 12:00.
The intention of the Italian government for the opening of the immigrant camps in Gjadër was that these facilities should be opened by May 20 of this year. However, it seems that this goal will not be realized, according to the Italian daily La Repubblica, which gives November 10 as the deadline.
In the port of Shengjin and in the former military base of Gjadri, the works are in the first steps and inspections are being carried out, which are highlighting a number of difficulties in the area. It is unlikely that the centers will be ready by May, as it will take several more months of work.
According to the Italian media, the costs for the center in Albania continue to increase and risk reaching the figure of around one billion euros in five years.
One of the three planned structures will be built near the port of Shengjin, where the landing and identification procedures must be carried out. After the landing that will take place in Shengjin, the immigrants will be relocated to the other two structures that are being built in Gjadër.
The entire perimeter will be surrounded by a wall nearly 7 meters high that will serve to increase security, since the houses of the villages of Gjadër and Kakarriq are also located right next to the camp.
