The democratic deputy, Ina Zhupa, has made a reaction after the reports that in the meeting between Edi Rama and the Italian counterpart, Giorgia Meloni, the taking of water from the 'Blue Eye' for the Italian regions was discussed.
Zhupa says that the 'Blue Eye' in Saranda is not a commodity for sale.
"Yesterday and today the media reports about the installation of pipes in the 'Blue Eye' in order to supply water to the Puglia region in Italy. Even the friendly visit of Prime Minister Meloni is related to this according to media sources.
It is not the first time that such efforts have been heard with Italy and Greece, but such a project with any country would be madness, irresponsibility and illegal.
'Syri i Kaltër' is a natural park and has the status of a protected area since 2002. Works, pipelines, interventions would be categorically prohibited and to the detriment of this natural wealth.
Saranda, Delvina, other cities suffer from the lack of drinking water, but it never occurred to them to intervene with pipes in the 'Blue Eye'. It is even less possible to think or accept something like this for the neighboring countries.
As a member of parliament representing Finiq, the municipality where "Syri i Kaltër" is located, I will request official information regarding the concrete plans that the Albanian government has for this natural park. No destruction of it will ever be accepted!” Zhupa says.
