The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, in a media conference denounced the high prices of products traded in the country, while the minimum wage is still unchanged.
Berisha said that Albania is the country with the largest gap between maximum and minimum wages. The opposition leader accused the government of increasing top salaries by 30-40%, while the minimum wage remained unchanged.
"The prices are stratospheric. Ask a housewife, she goes and buys washing machine medicine, 35 euros a package, at a time when in Germany it is sold for 17 euros, 18 euros. Go buy cheese. I guarantee you that at these prices lice and scabies will break out in all four corners of the country. It's crazy. If you sell medicine for 35 euros, what will people eat if they buy it this way.
Let's go back to 1991, Albania experienced a nationwide scabies epidemic, you can't buy it anymore. Powdered detergent, than others... Cheese three times more expensive than in the US, two and a half times more expensive than in Greece.
The minimum wage remains the same, while prices are above the European average. The narco-euros destroyed the economy and hit the family economy very hard, creating unemployment and the government, Edi Rama, thinks about how to get even richer every month.
