Irena Gjoka has been appointed as the preliminary judge for the case against former President of the Republic Ilir Meta. Gjoka will evaluate the actions of the Prosecution and decide whether the case will proceed to trial, be returned for further investigation, or be dismissed.
After the appointment of Judge Irena Gjoka to review the file of former President Ilir Meta, his lawyer Kujtim Cakrani said that he will request the judge's resignation from the case. Cakrani added that if Irena Gjoka does not accept, then he will file a request for her disqualification.
According to him, a judge who has been convicted in the Greek state and who has simultaneously been anathematized by Ilir Meta and the party he leads, the Freedom Party, cannot review the file.
"I expected Irena Gjoka to be the judge, because it is no coincidence that the draw fell on Irena Gjoka. We will definitely not accept this judge, not only because she has a criminal conviction, that she has cheated, but above all she has been anathemaed by both Mr. Meta, PL, and my positions as a lawyer in the television studios.
"I will talk to my client, Mr. Meta, and we will see our stance at the right moment regarding Judge Gjoka. Meta is innocent and the apostate masters of the prosecution manipulate the files and find judges like Gjoka to cover him up. They don't know me well yet. They will understand who I am. We will win this battle because we are in our right. Not Irena Gjoka who is not coming before us, but no one can come before us," said Cakrani.
