Goodbye Ilir Beqaj! The former minister leaves the Albania-EU negotiating group

Only 2 months after being appointed as part of the composition of the negotiating group for the negotiations of Albania's accession to the European Union, Ilir Beqaj has left this position.

Ilir Beqaj will be replaced in this function by Jona Suli. The decision was taken by the Council of Ministers.

Decision:

FOR SOME CHANGES IN DECISION NO. 422, DATED 6.5.2020, OF THE COUNCIL OF MINISTERS, "FOR THE COMPOSITION, RULES OF OPERATION AND FINANCIAL TREATMENT OF THE NEGOTIATING GROUP AND THE DUTIES OF THE CHIEF NEGOTIATOR FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE ACCESSION NEGOTIATIONS OF THE REPUBLIC OF ALBANIA IN THE EUROPEAN UNION , CHANGED"

In support of Article 100 of the Constitution, Law No. 23/2015, "On the Foreign Service of the Republic of Albania", and Decision No. 749, dated 19.12.2018, of the Council of Ministers, "On the creation, organization and the functioning of the state structure, responsible for the development of negotiations and the conclusion of the accession treaty of the Republic of Albania to the European Union", with the proposal of the Minister of State and Chief Negotiator, Council of Ministers

1. In point 1, of chapter I, of decision no. 422, dated 6.5.2020, of the Council of Ministers, "On the composition, rules of operation and financial treatment of the negotiating group and the duties of the Chief Negotiator for the development of the accession negotiations of of the Republic of Albania in the European Union", amended, the following changes are made:

a) The words "Mrs. Albana Koçiu" are replaced by "Mrs. Enkela Dudushi";

b) The words "Mr. Ilir Beqaj" are replaced by "Mrs. Jona Suli,";

c) The words "Mr. Ervin Mete, Financial Supervision Authority, negotiator for chapter 9; are replaced by "Mrs. Mimoza Kaçi, Financial Supervision Authority, acting negotiator for chapter 9, until the appointment of the General Executive Director;

2. The Minister of State and the Chief Negotiator and the negotiating group are charged with the implementation of this decision.

This decision enters into force after publication in the "Official Gazette".
