Former Democratic Party MP Ervin Salianji began today's meeting with Democrats in Berat, where he accused Prime Minister Edi Rama of proposing legal changes to protect himself and his ministers from SPAK investigations.
In his speech, Salianji stated that the proposed changes to the law are not made to help citizens with unfair processes, but to create guarantees for the government.
" Edi Rama has proposed changes to the law not for people with unfair judgments, he is changing it to guarantee himself and his ministers that he will not be affected by SPAK ," declared Salianji.
He emphasized that the opposition must be honest with itself and the citizens, acknowledging that the Democratic Party has also had responsibilities in the past.
"Friends, we must tell the truth to the end, we too have been different before and we must be different again," he said.
Salianji compared the current situation to previous periods, when, according to him, the DP invited representatives of the EU, the US, and Britain to discuss the concerns of the opposition and the public.
"Today, unfortunately, no ambassadors enter or leave the DP. Because it is as true as daylight that the government and all politics are compromised and corrupt ," he said.
According to Salianj, political change does not come only from the failure of the government, but also from the opposition's ability to become worthy of realizing it.
"Change does not come only because the government fails, but when the opposition becomes worthy of change. This is where our responsibility and that of the DP begins. Nothing can change if the DP does not change itself ," he said.
