The European Union Ambassador to Albania, Silvio Gonzato, has commented on the majority's initiative for legal changes, which aim to prevent the suspension of ministers from office.
In a joint press conference with the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs in the European Parliament, David McAllister, the European diplomat emphasized that any legal intervention must respect and not violate the Justice Reform.
He added that at the moment he had no specific comment regarding the concrete impact of these changes, but stressed that the European Union expects to be consulted on such initiatives, especially when they relate to judicial reform.
"We closely follow the government's initiatives related to the rule of law, not only because we are concerned about their harmonization with that of the EU, but also so that they do not affect the justice reform. As for the impact or influence they have in this case, I would not have a comment in this case. We expect to be consulted on these initiatives," said Ambassador Gonzato.
