From Investigative Committees to interpellations, what is expected to happen
Parliament in plenary session

The Assembly will meet today in plenary session, where two opposition requests for the establishment of parliamentary investigative committees are expected to be voted on. The first committee concerns the National Agency for the Protection of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, while the other concerns the National Agency for the Protection of Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

Both requests were rejected by the Conference of Speakers, a position that is expected to be maintained by the Socialist deputies today in the plenary session. The Socialists claim that the issues for which the Democrats are requesting a parliamentary investigation are being investigated by the judiciary and under such conditions there can be no overlap.

But for the Democrats, this is a game by the Socialist Party and Edi Rama to prevent the opposition from fulfilling its role, but also that of the Assembly, in parliamentary control over the executive and the institutions that depend on it.

However, parliamentary practices to date have shown that the majorities maintain the same position in the session that they display in the Conference of Speakers, which most likely means that the opposition's demands for investigative committees are expected to be rejected. The vote is expected to be preceded by debates and accusations between the parties, which could tense the situation in the Assembly hall.

From Investigative Committees to interpellations, what is expected to happen

According to the official document, the agenda initially includes the approval of the minutes of the previous session, as well as various procedural announcements.

Following this, the deputies will hold an interpellation with the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Andis Salla, requested by deputy Erion Braçe. A question-and-answer session with the Minister of Education, Mirela Kumbaro, is also scheduled, at the request of deputy Erisa Xhixho.

A significant part of the session will be devoted to the review of several draft laws. These include changes to the law on tourist ports, as well as amendments to the law on the prevention of money laundering and the financing of terrorism.

The session is also expected to vote on a draft decision for the election of a member of the Supervisory Council of the Bank of Albania.

On March 19, the Government proposed to the Parliament the name of Olta Rushaj as a member of the Supervisory Council of the Bank of Albania, to fill the vacancy that the executive has in this council.
