Prime Minister Edi Rama spoke this Monday in the SP parliamentary group about the situation created in Zvërnec, where residents of the area and representatives of civil society are protesting against the project to build a resort in the area.
Rama began his speech by expressing solidarity with the public revolt and anger over the scene of a protester being dragged away by private security guards, calling the indifference of the police who were supposed to protect him unjustifiable.
"I understand you very well. I assure you that in your country, I would also revolt and stand against the government. Because it would seem terrible to me that some private security guards, in the eyes of the police of my state, behind a barbed wire fence, howl like animals and take a person from outside in their own right. Drag him along the fenced beach and then the police say that the person dragged entered private property on his own, while those who dragged the protester should have been arrested on the spot," said Rama.
At the SP Group meeting, Rama also rejected the version that the international mafia's black money will be pastored in Zvërnec.
"If they told me that it was a protected area and the government removed it, if they told me that instead of flamingos, the black money of the international mafia will be laundered and so on and so forth. From what you were told, which you then said by distributing and were written, raising a wave of anger, to calling to defend the homeland in danger. Precisely because I understand this very well and your anger, I have been asking myself for two days, should I give you one side of this coin and the other, with the high probability that you will not believe me and continue to elevate me as a traitor and lower me as corrupt and sold out to both foreigners and oligarchs. Or should I tell you, forgive me, we were wrong, we did not judge this matter well, the project will be canceled and you can calm down, enjoy the victory of a cause that you saw from your side of the coin. While I, after doing this, continue to sit in the chair, postponing the time of power with the bitter taste of a great loss for Albania, for today's children of Albania who will be tomorrow's beneficiaries of this investment. Why should I do this, for power, for the chair or for the mud I get in my face," said Rama.
Rama also cast doubt on the Greek media that are giving voice to the protests in Zvërnec.
