Nigel Farage plans to meet with Rama, PM: I will prove to him that his claims

The Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, has reacted sharply to the statements of the leader of the Reform UK party, Nigel Farage, in Great Britain, describing them as untrue and offensive.

In an interview with the British radio station "Times Radio", Rama described Farage's claim that "1 in every 50 Albanians in Britain is in prison" as nonsense.

He said that he considers such statements by British politicians related to immigration to be populism as part of a broader campaign that influenced the referendum on Britain's exit from the EU, a process known as Brexit.

"There is no high number of Albanians convicted in the United Kingdom that can be separated from the total number of prisoners or from citizens of other countries. These are part of a wider mosaic of lies and deceptive arguments that were served to British citizens to convince them to leave the European Union ," Rama said.

Rama also stressed that many important sectors in the United Kingdom would have serious difficulties functioning without the work of Albanian immigrants.

"Where will you find the people to build your houses, to serve you coffee, to drive your taxis and trucks ," the prime minister added.

He reiterated the public invitation to Nigel Farage to visit Albania and see the reality of the country up close.

"He said he would come for a visit and I would be very happy to meet him. It is a good opportunity to get to know a man with a lot of talent and intelligence, despite his political theatricality, and to show him the beauties of Albania. Maybe we can convince him to choose Albania as his vacation destination," Rama concluded.

There have been exchanges on social media between the Prime Minister and British politician Nigel Farage during the summer months, specifically about Albanian immigrants.
