The head of the government, Edi Rama, has appealed to businesses that they will not accept salary declarations that are not in line with reality.
The Prime Minister took the example of the construction and tourism sectors, where he said that there are no more salaries of 400 or 500 euros.
Rama revealed that the General Directorate of Taxes has sent a letter to businesses saying that if they do not review the declarations, this will be called pension theft and there will be criminal consequences.
" From the increased salaries in the public sector, we receive more social security. Now what is happening to us? After we increased the contributors to the scheme, where most have been from the private sector, we now have an increase in real wages, but we have a concealment from the sectors. It does not exist in Albania in construction salary 500-600-700 euros, there is none. Wages in construction are over 800 euros. When you see the mirrors that declare 500-600 euros. Why? Because we have done that for salaries up to 500 euros there is no tax, but there is definitely social insurance. They give you 500 euros in the bank and tell us another 500 in hand.
Here's where a pensioner was robbed, while this other one who takes these digs a hole for himself when he retires. The same thing happens with the tourism sector. Wages in tourism are the same as in Greece, which is why this year we have seen the beginning of a trend of returns from Greece. We will no longer accept such declarations, and now the General Directorate of Taxes has sent a notice to all businesses to take into account that in the declaration of wages that is made at the end of the year, they should not steal pensioners, but declare the real wages. If we receive statements that are not in line with reality, it will be returned and we will tell you that if you do not review the consequences are criminal, not civil, and for us it is theft of pensions" , said Rama, among other things.
Further, the prime minister said that "with the increase in life expectancy, we should see an increase in the time before retirement. So we give them the opportunity to work more. On the other hand, we hear a lot of retirees who say, "I want to work".
