Analyst and member of the Presidency of the DP, Fitim Zekthi spoke about the Berlin Process summit that was held today in Tirana and Albania's membership towards the European Union.
Invited to the studio of the show "Open" on News24, Zekthi spoke about Albania's membership in the EU, as he said that we will never enter the EU on our own. He added that Rama should take responsibility for the failures and explain where they came from, referring to "Open Balkan".
He further stated that Prime Minister Edi Rama has talked about great successes over the years, but has not explained to the people what happened and instead acts as if nothing happened.
"Rama in these years has talked about great successes for Albania's EU membership. Explanations are needed for this as well as for the 'Open Balkans'. It should explain what happened, not pretend something happened. The EU did not have conditionality for membership. In 1990, the criteria for joining the EU were approved. The EC has not approved it, but this is how the EU works.
Rama should say what we did, not deal with others. No, this one comes, that one comes, the bride comes or not. Rule of law, separation of powers, which of them has advanced. Which of these criteria has advanced? Is there justice? The underdog goes to jail today. The weak is punished.
We can never enter the EU on our own. We are not able to demonstrate as a decision-making capacity, as a state, to meet those criteria. Rama cannot show his success the fact that he has changed in the conjuncture of the EU. Rama must explain the failures and take responsibility for where they came from," said Zekthi.
