4iG shares fall 32%, new Hungarian Prime Minister Magyar puts the company on the corruption blacklist; while ONE Albania increases tariffs, refuses to cooperate with Albanian justice and prepares for a desperate sale before the value drops to zero...
The fall in shares of 4iG, the Hungarian parent company that owns ONE Albania, by over 32% in one month, is not just financial news. It is the first sign of a domino effect that threatens to engulf Albania.
The pamphlet predicted that this would happen before the elections in Hungary were held.
Hungary's new Prime Minister, Péter Magyar, has officially launched a crackdown on the corrupt structures of Viktor Orbán's former regime, and 4iG, the company of Jászai Gellért, the former prime minister's confidant, is being targeted.
Following public statements by Magyar, who classified 4iG as part of the “NER,” the network of institutions and private companies that formed the backbone of the corrupt system established in Hungary, 4iG’s share price has fallen to 2,340 forints, from 3,400 forints a month ago. This decline is not unusual. It has a fundamentally political and criminal dimension.
Magyar has promised to create a special office that will track down and seize the assets of companies linked to the former regime. For 4iG, this threatens to turn into a legal nightmare: if the money invested in the purchase of ONE Albania is classified as “proceeds of corruption,” the company’s entire presence in Albania is called into question.
4iG's business model has always been inextricably linked to Orbán's rule. As the Direkt36 investigation has documented , the company survives thanks to a mechanism where the Hungarian state bank (Eximbank) and state funds give money to Jászai, and he uses the same money to buy Hungarian state companies. This money circulation, which resembles a Ponzi scheme, would stop immediately with the arrival of a new government. And now, with Magyar at the helm, the Hungarian state's money tap has been turned off. 4iG has lost its oxygen.
In this collapse, ONE Albania becomes one of the first assets to be sold for liquidity. But the problem is: who will buy a mobile operator that has refused to cooperate with Albanian authorities in the “Ghost Call” operation; the one that exposed fraudulent call centers that were extorting millions of euros from European citizens?
According to the Tirana Court's decision, ONE Albania has delayed and limited responses to police requests, risking hindering investigations. This is a documented judicial fact.
The fall of 4iG shares on the stock exchange is just the beginning. The market is already betting against Jászai. And when the parent company collapses, the Tirana subsidiary cannot stand on its own.
ONE Albania has announced that from May 1, 2026 it will increase mobile tariffs by up to 2.2%, justifying the move with inflation. But subscribers know the truth: the increase does not come from inflation, but from desperation. ONE is trying to secure liquidity before it is too late.
Meanwhile, in Tirana, the political balance is changing. Today, Prime Minister Edi Rama defends ONE Albania because he has a public agreement with Viktor Orbán, signed in October 2024, where Hungary gives Albania 350 million euros in aid and investments. But when Orbán falls, Rama no longer has any interest in defending a fallen ally. On the contrary, he will quickly distance himself, call it a matter of “a private investor” and let the Albanian authorities act. This is the pure logic of power.
The case of ONE Albania is not just a story of a failed investment. It is a symbol of the entire architecture of Orbán’s power in the Balkans. When Orbán falls, this whole edifice falls. 4iG’s shares collapse, the investigations in Hungary widen, and ONE Albania dives into the abyss, waiting for an uncertain buyer, raising tariffs to survive, and facing an increasingly uncertain future./ Pamphlet
