Prime Minister Edi Rama spoke about the pact with Italy for immigrants.
During the "GLOBSEC 2024" forum held in Prague, Rama justified himself by saying that it is up to Albania to be useful to friends, while he also commented on the debates created by the EU on this agreement.
Rama said that the debates show that Europe is not ready to act as one when it comes to facing the challenges of immigration.
"It is up to me to be useful for friends and for Albania to be useful for friends. If friends ask for something, you have to be there for them, you don't necessarily have to agree 100%. We have gone to wars together, we came with you and we did not question it. That said, the agreement in question is about a subject that is so big, so important, so defining for Europe and how it should see itself and its future. I am talking about immigration and to transform it into a fight between the left and the right, into a conflict within Europe, shows that while this is a problem of the whole of Europe, Europe is not ready to act as one and in the country to deal with the problem, it is easier to build our daily life based on party policies that do not take us anywhere" , said the Prime Minister.
