Today, the Assembly approved with 74 votes in favor the law on Protected Areas.
After the plenary session, the Minister of Tourism and Environment, Mirela Kumbaro commented outside the Assembly on the law on Protected Areas, a law opposed by many opposition parties.

In a statement to the media, Kumbaro said that the law on Protected Areas does not harm the environment and that it does not violate the directives provided by the EU. The minister emphasized that the amendments to the law were approved today after a wide public consultation with civil society citizens and environmental organizations.
Kumbaro said that the surface of the territories of the protected areas will not be affected and that there will be no division of the territories of the protected areas with the municipalities. According to the minister, the amendments that were approved today pave the way for clearer rules in protected areas.
"Meanwhile, for everyone's information in live broadcasts, there have been many public consultations, I have had formal and informal meetings with environmental organizations and citizens of civil society... I want to remind you here of the Vjosa river that, thanks to a collaboration of several years, was announced with 480 km of flow the river with its three branches is a national park, the only one that has remained wild in Europe. ..The surface of the territories of the protected areas will not be affected. Earlier, the democratic deputy Jorida Tabaku warned that Albania is very soon expected to receive a note of protest from the European Union regarding the law on protected areas, which the majority approved in the last session of the Assembly, with only its votes.
"If we talk about the captured parliament and violation of procedure, this is the best example. I have been trying to do the battle in the institutions for a long time, but in conditions where there are SP deputies, their vote has no value.... with this law, the government showed that it does not recognize any limit and they voted a law that is 14 decisions for strategic investments within protected areas", said Tabaku.
While the head of the Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Party, Gazmend Bardhi said that with this law the government seeks to devour the national assets of the Albanians with the new law on protected areas that was approved today in the Parliament.
"The law on protected areas where once again it is planned to devour the national wealth of the Albanians. The session continued to be not a normal session as long as the opposition's demand is not met. (...) Undoubtedly, there will be an assessment, if there are arguments for objection in the CJK, we will address it", said Bardhi.
