Today, with 74 votes in favor, the Assembly approved the law on Protected Areas.
Democratic Party MP Ina Zhupa said that this is a custom law for the interests of the oligarchs and that it violates EU directives.
"Today in the plenary session, a law was passed which is the destruction of protected areas in Albania. A clientelistic law made for certain oligarchs near Rama. It removes the protection of Protected Areas and makes them construction sites where strategic investments can be made according to the contracts they will sign. It is contrary to the chapters that we have to complete in order to open the negotiation process with the EU. it is a custom law and the fact that it is a custom law appears in Divjaka's project. Someone has had porosity from Edi Rama. Today if you cut a tree in the forest you are punished. If you kill a wild animal, you are punished, but if you build today in the middle of Protected Areas, you are called a strategic investor.'- said Zhupa.
