The elected MP of the Democratic Party spoke about the changes that, according to him, the opposition must make to adapt to current political realities and regain the trust of citizens.
Balliu stressed that the DP needs a modernization that affects the internal structures and the way the party functions, including the hierarchy and, in some cases, even statutory changes. He added that the party needs new blood and a return to the fundamental principles on which it was founded, including meritocracy and respect for internal rules.
"My belief is that modernization should start from the way the party is fundamentally organized," Balliu told "News 24."
He also distinguished between rallies and real protests by the DP, emphasizing that citizens do not perceive rallies as an effective means of expressing dissatisfaction.
"We cannot say that we are in a regime and hold rallies. There have been protests in France, there are today in Serbia. Citizens take it as an insult if we call them for rallies," the MP said, emphasizing that the opposition should organize real protests and not just public speeches.
Balliu warned that all these issues will be discussed in the DP forums, as part of an internal process of reflection and reform of the party's structures.
