The Democratic Party gathered its Presidency today at the blue headquarters, for the first time since the May 11 elections.

Present at the meeting are DP MPs and former MPs, including Ervin Salianji, who is participating for the first time since his release from prison.

The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, declared that his political force will go to Parliament, despite not recognizing the elections, thus rejecting the boycott scenario.

"It is not an option, I am telling the democrats who are thinking of not entering Parliament. No, it is not better. In a dictatorship, you have to thank God for giving you the opportunity to fight it. In this dictatorship, you suffer like Salianji, but we cannot deny that the opportunities to fight it are there. And much greater commitment and dedication are required from each of us," Berisha said at the meeting of the DP leadership.

Berisha continued with accusations, saying that "state employees are appointed by the state party."

"Honored ladies and gentlemen and dear citizens wherever you are, out of 220 thousand employees of this state, from the president of the republic to the simplest employee, only 2 thousand of them have not been appointed or elected by the state party. 218 thousand in a concentration, so almost total, belong to the state party, the party of crime.
There is no higher concentration of power in an autocratic dictatorship than this," he said.

The DP leadership has 18 members elected by the National Council of Democrats and 15 ex officio members, due to the positions they held in parliamentary committees during the previous legislature.

Of the ex officio members who were not elected deputies, Helidon Bushati, Dhurata Çupi, Zheni Gjergji and Ferdinand Xhaferraj were not invited to today's meeting of the presidency.

Also present at the Democrats' meeting is Bardh Spahia, who appeared on crutches, following an incident that occurred a few days ago.

As can be seen in the photo, the meeting was attended by MPs such as Agron Gjekmarkaj, Gazment Bardhi, Jorida Tabaku, Ina Zhupa, Edi Paloka, Belind Këlliçi, Luçiano Boçi, and others.

At the Presidency meeting, the DP will discuss its decision-making regarding the opposition's stance on the election results and political developments in the country. After Sali Berisha's speech, the discussions are expected to take place behind closed doors.

Previously, DP exponents have said that party forums such as the Presidency and the National Council will be the ones that will decide on the continuation of the opposition action.
