The Democratic Party is holding its National Assembly today, where in addition to the statutory changes that are expected to be approved, the new names of the National Council will also be elected. This would also mark the beginning of the process for electing other leadership structures of the DP. The National Council, based on the DP status, elects the members of the Presidency, the General Secretary, the vice-chairmen, as well as the members of the Secretariat, a process that is expected to be concluded within 1 week, according to sources from the DP.
The Assembly will hold its proceedings at the Palace of Congresses in Tirana, where 5 years ago, Lulzim Basha attempted to stop the Reestablishment, which at that time was the movement initiated by Sali Berisha to take control of the party.
Statutory changes are expected to be presented by Gazment Bardhi, while those on the reorganization of the diaspora and the digitalization of the party will be presented by Nikola Kedhi and Grigels Muçollari.
Meanwhile, it is learned that the opening speech will be entrusted to the new diaspora member Erisa Bajaziti. The Assembly's proceedings will then continue with Berisha's speech and the voting process for the new members of the National Council.
The 1,100 delegates have been summoned to the National Assembly, who will determine the 200 new members of the elected National Council. In addition to the 200 members of the National Council who are elected by vote by the National Assembly, they will be joined by other members who are MPs, former DP officials, as well as municipal leaders, DP representatives and members of the presidency.
