Ervin Salianji, who was not allowed to run for the position of DP leader in what was considered the May 23 referendum, held a meeting in Tirana today with his supporters.
One of those present was Altin Dalipi, a former victim of the communist regime who did not hesitate to compare Sali Berisha to old Mere, the character in the film "The Man with the Cannon".
He said that Berisha has taken the Democratic Party hostage, while adding that this force cannot claim to take power as long as it appears before Albanians with the same faces in 35 years.
" Energy, inspiration, change, rotation. Only youth gives us these things, and the youth are you, not those there who are old. With an 82-year-old man who claims to become prime minister like his friend when he turns 95, does the DP want to win the elections? This is not democracy, it is communism to act as old Mere wants. Anyone who acts differently is declared an enemy. I am a family persecuted by the communist dictatorship. But today we must say enough. We cannot continue with the same faces for 35 years. We must remove this old Mere as soon as possible, because we have nowhere else to go ," he said.
