The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has launched strong accusations against the director of police, Ilir Proda. While he focused on the SPAK investigation into the AKSHI, where it is suspected that a businessman was taken hostage to withdraw from tenders, Berisha accused Proda of covering up the incident. According to him, he is more criminal than criminals.
" No one ever found out about this. Such a secret. Why so secret? I'll tell you why it's a secret. That there is a criminal at the head of the police. A criminal. Worse than any other criminal in Albania. And his name is Ilirian Proda. I'll tell you, friends. Edi Rama has removed two ministers for this. You should know this and let the Albanians know. I have no sympathy for either one. He removed them because he told them, you have no business with the police. The police do not exist for you. So they had the keys to the safe that I was attacking in the media up and down. Frankly, you have no business, because we have Proda there, a criminal ," Berisha said at the National Council meeting.
He then stopped at the arrest of the former Anti-Terrorist officer, who was linked to gangs. According to him, he has proven that he did everything on Proda's orders.
" A few weeks ago, Albanians should know. One Igli Haxhiaj, an anti-terror officer, testified that everything I did was done on the orders of the Director General of Police. Everything I did was done on the orders of the Director General of Police ," Berisha continued.
