The National Council meeting began a few minutes ago at the Democratic Party headquarters, in a tense atmosphere and with clear signals of internal clashes.
The leader of the DP, Sali Berisha, in his opening speech, harshly attacked the electoral process in Albania, calling it a “farce organized by the electoral state.” He also attacked voices within the DP.
Sali Berisha: Those who talk about elections in essence and intentionally or unintentionally, justify the farce. Because for every citizen, for every individual, for every politician who has a clear understanding of the electoral process, he knows that if the competition takes place between the electoral state and political parties, it is not a competition, but a farce. For those who, again in the absence of electoral culture or for other reasons, think differently, I say again that if the government organizes in violation of the law, spending on every event, organizing 4533 activities, including the voting day, 7 million Giro d'Italia, it is not holding elections, it is holding a farce and thereby violating international principles, fundamental principles.
