MP Edi Paloka spoke about political developments within the blue headquarters, especially the exclusions and the competition of candidates, including former MP Ervin Salianji.
Paloka denied that there are opposing voices within the party or exclusions for differing opinions.
"There is no exception for opposing opinions or opposing voices. I am for unity, not for exclusion. There is nothing hermetic in the DP. But everything goes through the structures," he said.
Edi Paloka emphasized that every political organization has rules that must be respected and that the DP statute also provides for cases for the expulsion of members, adding that these issues should not be treated subjectively.
"There are elections in the PS, are they asked there about the elections that are held in the party. I am from the DP and you are asking me about the elections in the party. So they are closed there. In the DP, the competition has just started, we do not yet know who has aspirations. There are some criteria, there is a competition process, because not just anyone can run. You can be a member of the DP and not be able to run, there are other steps in progress, names, candidacies are verified, there are criteria ," he continued on "News24".
And he further added: "If there is something that distinguishes the DP, it is precisely the debate. We have never had anything hermetic."
Asked whether Ervin Salianji will be allowed to run for president of the Democratic Party, Paloka said that the process has not yet started and that candidacies will go through the filter of the party's criteria and structures. But he said that you can be a member of the Democratic Party and not be able to run because you do not meet the criteria.
"The race has not started yet. Not just anyone can run. There are criteria and a chairman who selects the candidacies. In the end, it will be seen who will be in the race. I said it, there are criteria, there are rules, there is a Chairman who checks the figures and then decides ," said the Democrat MP.
Paloka also commented on the DP protests, their strategy, tactics, how long they will last, and their purpose.
For the MP, the only path left for the opposition is strong protests until the dictatorship that Rama has established is overthrown, and he could not determine how long they would last.
"Protests are a forced way of the DP. There are strategies and tactics, all of them will be examined. Regardless of the forms and ways in which they will develop, it is another matter, but it is the only way for the opposition to confront. Rama has shown that he has no intention of holding free elections in this country. This is the only way for the goal we have. How long they will last, I do not know, but we will see ," he said.
