There is no end to the fuss with the government. This morning, journalists caught the Minister of Health off guard, regarding the fact that in public hospitals tests are only performed 20 days a month, while on the other 10 days patients have to go to private ones.
This mechanism is directly linked to the concession contract since 2019, where the laboratory service is provided by a private consortium. According to the agreement, the company notifies the hospital when 50%, 75% and then 100% of the monthly budget is reached. The moment the fund runs out, the analyzes are limited to emergencies only. The minister acknowledged the scandal and said that measures will be taken. However, a little while ago, the Agency for Media and Information under the Prime Minister, has refuted the minister.
" Currently, there is no interruption in the performance of laboratory examinations in regional hospitals and university hospitals in the country.
The service continues normally and without any interruption, especially for emergency examinations, which are performed at any time, guaranteeing immediate treatment of patients in need.
Health structures are continuously monitoring the situation, assessing the flow of patients, the morbidity profile and comorbidities, with the aim of providing integrated and quality care for each patient.
"The responsible institutions remain fully committed to guaranteeing the continuity of services, their quality and timely response to any need for laboratory health services and beyond, " the statement said.
