The abandonment of the parliamentary committees for the Administrative-Territorial Reform and the Electoral Reform has brought back clashes within the Democratic Party. In the closed-door meeting of the Parliamentary Group, several MPs openly opposed the line followed by Sali Berisha.

According to sources from the meeting, MPs Bledjon Nallbati, Xhelal Mziu, Oerd Bylykbashi, Ina Zhupa, Tritan Shehu, Arjan Ndoja, Bledi Himçi, Luan Baçi and Bujar Leskaj have requested that the Democratic Party participate in the reform committees, arguing that the absence of the opposition paves the way for the majority to adopt unilateral changes. They have emphasized that boycotting parliamentary processes weakens the representative role of the DP and excludes it from key decision-making.

" We are clear that they will do whatever they want, but we must use our participation to "tear up" the reform they have done so far. We have all the arguments and the best expertise to reject what they have done. The second most important thing is the model we propose. This issue has the attention of the public and the international community ," Bozdo declared.

MP Bujar Leskaj, who previously publicly opposed the boycott of the Administrative-Territorial Reform Commission, also expressed the same opinion. Leskaj warned that the DP's withdrawal from this process serves the interests of the majority and risks repeating the scenario of 2014, when the territorial reform was approved without consensus. According to him, the review of the reform is a necessity and the opposition should be an active part of the discussions.

" If we, as the Democratic Party, do not complete the review of the Administrative-Territorial Reform, we give the Rama sect government a second chance to further distort this reform, with effects completely outside the interest of citizens. The second mistake is always bigger than the first. This reform should not be implemented without the presence and contribution of members of the Democratic Party, who are skilled and respected professionals ," Leskaj said on social media.

Faced with objections, Berisha stated that the final decision on whether or not to continue the boycott will be made by the Democratic Party Presidency.

At today's meeting of the Territorial Reform Commission, socialist co-chair Arbjan Mazniku warned that on Tuesday during the plenary session, the leftists will demand changes to unblock the functioning of the commission and continue its work.

" The opposition will have its place in the committee. We have proposed that the co-chairs be replaced with a chair and vice-chair, as in standard committees, to create a normal parliamentary element and continue the work ," Mazniku said.

According to Maznik, this boycott has delayed the work for about a month, and therefore he emphasized that in order to meet the July deadline, members will be divided into three groups. / Pamphlet
