But who could be the members of the National Council who could cause 'headaches' to Berisha and the leadership of this party, which includes the vice-chairmen and the Secretary General? If we refer only to public statements or expressed positions, there are at least 14 or 15 members of the National Council...
The Democratic Party will convene its National Council on the afternoon of December 17, the first meeting to be held since the loss of the May 11 elections.
The announcement was made by Democratic leader Sali Berisha, and this meeting comes 5 days before the Democrats hold their first national protest, which has been announced to take place on December 22nd.
The National Council meeting also comes at a time when the DP is engulfed in internal debates related not only to the 'Speeches' initiated by Ervin Salianji, but also to the chaos created by the election of Endri Shabani as People's Advocate. These two issues are expected to also cause debates at the National Council meeting, which thus add to the debate regarding the result of the May 11 defeat and the failure to hold any responsibility, even though 7 months have passed since the elections.
But who could be the members of the National Council who could cause 'headaches' to Berisha and the leadership of this party, which includes the vice-chairmen and the Secretary General? If we refer only to public statements or expressed positions, there are at least 14 or 15 members of the National Council who could express their criticism. Some have already appeared as supporters of Salijanj's 'Speech', others have expressed criticism regarding May 11 and the lack of an analysis of the defeat, but also for the chaos caused by the election of the People's Advocate.
So far, public criticism regarding what is happening in the DP has been expressed by former MP Myslim Murrizi, activist Adriana Kalaja, but also Indrit Hoxha and Lisandër Hoxha. Fierce debates also took place at the meeting of the DP Presidency, held on Saturday afternoon, where Ervin Salianji clashed with Sali Berisha and Flamur Noka.
It is not known whether those who publicly articulate criticism will have the courage to do the same in the National Council, but the possibility cannot be ruled out that this meeting will precipitate a clash and Berisha as chairman and his loyalists in the leadership of the DP will find 'the next hostile group' in the blue headquarters.
Below we list some of the members of the National Council who have publicly, in one form or another, expressed strong public criticism, even 'revolt', towards the way this party drafted the lists for the May 11 elections, or how the status quo continues to be maintained, even after successive losses.
