Debates in the DP and opposition action/ After the Presidency, Berisha calls the
National Council of the Democratic Party

The National Council of the Democratic Party of Albania (DP) meets on Wednesday.

After the Presidency meeting, Sali Berisha decided to convene the DP National Council.

A few days ago, there were accusations from Salianji that the Council has not met for a long time. However, it is learned that the Democratic Party Presidency has officially announced that the National Council meeting will take place on Wednesday, at 5:00 PM, where political developments in the country, the party's current positions and the organization of the protest announced for December 22 will be discussed.

According to the announcement, part of the agenda will be an analysis of the political situation, but also the coordination of opposition action for the coming months.

Yesterday, the Presidency of the DP met, where there were strong debates for 4 hours. Sali Berisha, in the role of the chairman, said that the DP should publicly apologize for supporting Endri Shabani for the People's Advocate, and called it a wrong step that should not be repeated, acknowledging that this situation gives Rama even more control over the institutions. In his support, several other members called for a review of the way the party functions and makes decisions.

But tensions flared when Ervin Salianji accused secretary Flamur Noka of misorganization and lack of direction. He said that the Democrats are disappointed and cannot seek new trust in a structure that, according to him, has disintegrated. Salianji called the silence on the inclusion of individuals affiliated with the SP in DP meetings unacceptable and demanded Noka's resignation.

The clash between them continued even when specific names were mentioned and accusations were made of tacit collaboration with people from the majority to sabotage the activities of the DP. The debate worsened when crime figures were also mentioned.

The meeting also discussed the organization of the December 22 protest, with some proposing that the protest be moved to Sunday to ensure greater participation. Meanwhile, some members emphasized that regardless of the number of participants, the protest should be held to show the opposition's determination against the Rama government.

Salianji and Berisha also clashed over Hysen Kadiu's contribution during the last elections. Berisha claimed that he had not contributed to the campaign, while Salianji strongly objected, saying that he had evidence and photos proving the opposite, and even considered the language used by Berisha unacceptable, asking him to withdraw or else he would leave the meeting.

Other voices such as Belind Këlliçi and Agron Gjekmarkaj called for full focus on protests and avoidance of internal division, emphasizing that citizens are angry with the government's affairs and the DP should not miss this moment.
