DP leader Sali Berisha seems to have anticipated the defeat in the May 11 elections, as he said that the elections will be won convincingly by the Democratic Party, if they are free, at least according to the polls conducted by the opposition.
Asked at a media conference about Rama's statement on Thursday morning, when he said that the SP would receive more mandates than in the previous elections (74), Berisha said that he believes their manipulations.
"According to the manipulations he has, he believes their lies and manipulations. Our polls show that in free elections, the absolute winner is the DP, and with free elections, the party of return goes back to 1992," said Berisha.
He added that the elections are under strict international monitoring.
"I can tell you that never in the history of this country have two international hearings been held for elections in Albania, as happened last week in the Council of Europe and the European Parliament, which means that there are no longer closed eyes, but they are wide open and the spotlights, not only ours, but also those of Europe and our friends everywhere, are focused on this electoral process. One of the most important OSCE delegations visited Albania precisely for the elections," said the democratic leader.
He further said that they have submitted the names of all those who are committing electoral crimes, and they guarantee that electoral crime will be considered a serious crime and will be punished.
"We have submitted the names and surnames of all those who are committing electoral crimes, but we guarantee that electoral crime will be called a serious crime, it will be qualified as a serious crime and this is a solemn electoral commitment and that, the criminal organizations that are engaged in electoral crime, we will do everything to declare them, terrorist organizations, not only Albania, but also the international factor. President Donald Trump opened the door to this procedure and he, with a special order, declared drug cartels, terrorist organizations. We will declare them terrorist organizations and will lobby hard in Europe and the US so that these are considered as such by the entire international factor. We do everything so that Albanians vote freely and we are doing the right thing", said Berisha.
