Albania assumed the SEECP chairmanship for the third time in 2024, and this Presidency comes in the wake of other important diplomatic actions...

Under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, the SEECP Summit is taking place in Tirana with the participation of the leaders of the Southeast European Cooperation Process.

President Begaj hosted the President of Slovenia, Nataša Pirc Musar; the President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović; the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani; the Chairperson of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Željka Cvijanović; the President of Macedonia, Gordana Siljanovska Davkova, and the President of Bulgaria, Rumen Radev. The latter will take over the SEECP chairmanship next year.

The Head of State also welcomed the Prime Minister of Serbia, Đuro Macu, as well as the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Moldova, Mihai Popşoi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, Hakan Fidan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania, Emilian Horatiu Hurezeanu, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, Alexandra Papadopoulou, and the State Secretary for Political Affairs of Croatia, Frano Matušić. The Secretary General of the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC), Mr. Amer Kapetanović, and the Head of the EU Delegation in Tirana, H.E. Silvio Gonzato, also attended the summit, to whom President Begaj welcomed.

The summit, entitled: "Promoting Stability and Prosperity through Regional Cooperation and EU Integration", aims for aspiring EU members, EU countries and partners to collaborate by reflecting on the progress of this platform to move forward in the same direction in addressing common challenges.

Albania assumed the SEECP chairmanship for the third time in 2024, and this Presidency comes in the wake of other important diplomatic actions, from the chairmanship of the Berlin Process in 2023, to the Central European Initiative, the Black Sea Economic Cooperation in 2024, and MARRI (Regional Initiative for Migration, Asylum and Refugees) in 2024–2025.

During the current Presidency, Albania focused on cooperation and policies through stronger inter-regional ties, economic growth, security, deepening cooperation in many sectors, such as: health, culture, tourism and education. Albania was strongly committed to ensuring that the process remained inclusive, constructive and visionary.

The South East European Cooperation Process has proven to be a valuable platform for dialogue, for strengthening regional cooperation and keeping the momentum of European integration alive.

The main priorities of SEECP remain stability, economic development, and reforms for integration with the European Union.
