The Democratic Party is heading towards the primaries, which will be held on March 1, where DP members will vote on candidates for MPs, lists that will then be reviewed by the Presidency and Democratic leader Sali Berisha.
Candidates who receive the most votes from the membership have a better chance of being on the official list that the DP will submit to the CEC for the May 11 elections. The names that will be selected through the Primaries will mainly be on what is considered an open list, which also constitutes 2/3 of the names that will be submitted for each district.
The deadline for proposals and applications for primary candidates was February 17. All applications are reviewed by the relevant Committee in the DP and then the names that meet the criteria continue the race.
Each of the DP branches has filed a list of candidates who will be voted on at the district level, while the evaluation of candidates will not be done with the 'exclusionary' option.
