The former leader of the Democratic Party in Kukes, Ibsen Elezi, has commented on the recent developments in the Democratic Party regarding the list of primaries. He described this process as truncated and lacking transparency. According to him, the Democratic Party has been in decline since 2013 and after the electoral losses, no analysis was done and no responsibility was taken.
"The primaries process is a statutory rule that has been requested for years. Primaries are a competition where candidates must debate, have an audience, and have a transparent competition among themselves. These candidates are voted on based on their qualities and receive votes. Primaries do not make sense and are truncated. The fact that this has not happened is not only the responsibility of the incumbents, it is also the responsibility of those who do not insist. The essence of primaries is competition, competition.
"Technically, the list of supporters should have been specified 6 months ago. The lists were compiled during this period. The DP no longer functions as an institution, since 2013 we have had a decline. If the links do not function, they will be damaged. This is what happened in the DP because after 2013 there was a decline, complete degradation. There is no culture of genuine analysis. It is facing the truth. The DP lost and no analysis was done, the blame and responsibilities start from the top. They have torn the statute to pieces, but structurally you see things that are not going well. These should build a regulation regarding the primaries, there should be a set of other rules," he told "Abc News".
According to him, Berisha undermines every rule that forms unity and that people with dignity were not included in the primary lists in order to avoid facing such situations.
"If we compete, we will set some rules beforehand. When there are no criteria, no one can decide. This also gives meaning to the competition. These people have issued a rule that after the competition, you see the ranking. What we are talking about are technical things that they do not know how to implement. In the end, they say that we will defeat Edi Rama after we stole from each other. Berisha undermines every rule that forms unity. I do not believe that the primaries will bring anything new. People with dignity do not enter because they do not face such situations ," said Elezi.
