Lawyer Alesia Balliu, excluded from the race for the leadership of the Democratic Party, has accused Sali Berisha and his circle of usurping the party, while describing the May 23 election process as a farce and not a real competition.
She added that she has sent emails to Western chancelleries regarding what she considers illegality in the electoral process within the DP and that she is expected to hold meetings with representatives of the European Union.
According to Balliu, a candidate for party leader cannot choose the opponents he will compete with, while claiming that Berisha would not win if she and former MP Ervin Salianji were also in the race.
"It is undoubtedly democratic in name only, as the goal was the rule of a single person, which is undoubtedly the usurpation of the DP by Berisha and his family clan. It is undeniable that it is not a competition, I have denounced it and sent emails to all Western chancelleries and very soon I will have a meeting with EU representatives, whom Berisha cannot meet."
"There is no doubt that this is a farce, it cannot be a competition. In a competition, a candidate for party leader cannot choose the opponents he will face. For these reasons and others, Berisha clearly knows that he cannot win if Salianji and I were in the competition. Today, all the individuals who follow Berisha follow him out of obligation, not out of the conviction that he will bring them to power," Balliu continued on the "Studio Live" show.
